Question Time

"What that called?" A tiny finger points to the picture of a stripy walking-stick shaped sweet. When I had overcome my inner struggle with the need to come out with the American expression "candy" I realised that Katy had for the first time addressed a direct question to me. An exciting development - but oh dear, it can't be long now before she starts the incessant "But why?" and "Are we nearly there yet?"

The Gruffalo, adapted by K.S. Little

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood, A fox saw the mouse, and the mouse looked good. "Where are you going to, little brown mouse? Come and have lunch in my underground house." Yes! says the mouse in Katy's version of the story, which I fear does not have the same happy ending as the original .
