Brazilian carnival

Image
The last week of term before Easter 2015 was Brazil week at school. Although Katy has often complained about school of late, she really engaged with this theme - with the result that she got a 'good news certificate' for "super work during Brazil week". Head dress, mask, flag, shaker, and 'good news certificate'.

Tea towel time

Katy's artwork features twice on this year's school tea towel: a self-portrait (below the year 2015), and a picture of Ms Harrison (to the left of INFANT).

Here be Moshi Monsters!

Racing start

Week 2 at school, and we've just been told by Katy's teacher Mrs Elliott that she'll be making a special reading plan for her, as Katy is racing through all the reading scheme books, almost as if she has a photographic memory!

First day at school, 4th September 2013

Delighted to be in Mrs Elliot's reception class.

Superkids!

Katy has enjoyed mixing with super kids of all ages at the after-school club once a week.

Katy is "star of the week" in nursery school class (April 2013)

Read all about it!

Yesterday Katy read a book before breakfast. OK, it was only a 22-page book with a vocabulary restricted to 100 words, but all the same ... I was hugely impressed and proud of her. Today at nursery-school she read a similar book TO THE REST OF HER CLASS, sitting (by invitation!) in the teacher's chair. Now words fail me!

Motivation, perseverance, inspiration, success

That's the motto of the 'outstanding' infant school just around the corner where we hope Katy will get a place next September. Just done the online application which, Trafford assures us, means we don't need to worry about lost forms. Ha! Have they never heard of lost data? So now all we have to do is sit back and wait until 10 a.m. on 15th April 2013. I think a lot of perseverance will be required to banish the nagging worry that she might get sent somewhere truly awful instead!

Letter to Santa

How would you like a new house for Christmas, Katy? No thanks. Can I have a new school, please? Ah, I think you'll have to wait a bit longer for that. How about a new school for your birthday? OK, I can wait.
