Moses basket good,..

... mum's bed better. Kathryn's sleep patterns are getting closer to an adult's, but after waking at maybe 4.30am she doesn't always settle well unless she joins me in the big bed. She passed her 8 week test at the GP, and survived her first jabs, which were probably more traumatic for her parents. She continues to gain weight gradually, and shows signs of being a lefty. Very sinister!

Sibling rivalry

Image
The cats have reacted to their new housemate with a mixture of fear, suspicion and general noses out of joint-ness. Tsi-tsa is here deciding that the chair Katy doesn't like will do just nicely for a catty. Good news about Katy's weight: thanks to a combination of supplements + me spending more time in bed eating (doctor's orders, honest) she has surged ahead and gained nearly a whole pound this week.

Smiley people

Kathryn has started smiling ! Yes, really smiling, not accidental grinning. Her whole face lights up, and it makes all the 3a.m. feeding sessions seem worthwhile, giving us plenty to smile about too.

My thanks to Sarah Woodall for pointing out that I had not allowed comments when setting up this blog. Fixed that now, so feel free!

Weighty matters

Happy and alert she may be, but Kathryn has not been gaining weight very impressively,so we've bowed to pressure from the health professionals to supplement with formula milk. Owen is delighted to operate the bottle - I suppose it's a bit like using a new gadget! Working out

Image
Here's Kathryn working out in her 'activity gym'. Owen is happily also back at work with the RLPO this week. And the GP has said I'm ok, so no excuses for putting my feet up any more!

Daddy's girl

Kathryn is now 5 weeks old and is interacting much more than in her early days of sleepy confusion. She even tried to smile at her Dad today (or so Owen maintains).
